 Game

Driving rain, and a field that had inadequate drainage took most of the skill out of what had been a promising match. The pools of water on the pitch reminded one of the final game of the 1995 FIFA Cup Final in Sweden between Norway and Germany, when six inches of water covered the ground.  The USA did most of the attacking  against a very defensive team, but both sides had little control over what would happen to the ball when kicked.

Post game quotes

U.S. U-19 National Team Head Coach Mark Krikorian

I give Costa Rica a lot of credit as they were very organized in their defending and got a lot of numbers behind the ball. We certainly had our chances, but we were not quite precise enough with our finishing or with the final pass, so it became a bit of a stalemate. But, in the end we got the result that allowed us to win our group and now wešre just looking ahead to Mexico.
